Service Description
If your PlayStation Portal has drift issues, irregular analog stick movements, or you simply want to improve its reliability and precision, we replace both original analog modules with new TMR joysticks (Tunnel Magnetoresistance).
In traditional analog sticks, the position of the stick is detected by small contacts that continuously slide on resistive tracks. With use, these tracks wear out, get dirty, or lose precision: this is the cause of the well-known stick drift. TMR joysticks instead use contactless magnetic sensors, so there are no resistive tracks to wear out and the main cause of wear and drift is eliminated at the root.
Beyond this, the TMR modules provide:
- Greater sensitivity in detecting small movements
- Excellent precision and center point stability
- Progressive and precise response across the entire stick travel
- Extremely reduced power consumption
The service includes the replacement of both analog sticks, professional installation of the new TMR modules, and final inspection of proper functioning and stick centering.
The result is more precise control and, most importantly, much more stable over time: it's not just a repair of any potential drift, but a true PlayStation Portal upgrade.
Technology comparison
Upgrade or new controller?
Most new controllers still have analog sticks with potentiometer like yours: the slider rubs on the track, wears out and, with use, drift comes back. With the upgrade you don't just repair: you change technology. The sensor that wore out is replaced with one that reads position with a magnetic field, without contact: it doesn't touch, so it doesn't wear out. For wear drift on analog sticks, you won't need to replace them anymore.
